Why should we always give? Why is this very important to us?
Many do not know why we should give. They don't understand why we give. And so they do not take it seriously. They take it lightly. And so the purpose of this teaching, is to throw more light on this. On why we are to always give and freely for that matter. Take note of the expression, freely. Of course people give alright but if you observe, many do not give freely. Many give under pressure; under caution.
Many give under threats. And this is not the New Testament model for giving. We are called to give freely. We don't give because we are trying to become philanthropists.
That's not why we give because there's something spiritual about our giving that transcends more than philanthropy. Our giving carries a profound spiritual significance that many are yet to realize.
We give freely because, we are replicating God's unconditional goodness as our Father, as the Father of all graces. And of course, this is something Satan hates. Satan hates free giving or free gifts because giving is a very powerful force. It's so powerful that it helps to open people's eyes to realize the way to receive from God is freely. Giving helps to open people's eyes. God's system does not depend on works and so you see giving helps people to realize this and to come to this realization. That's why it's a very powerful force. so powerful that satan is afraid of people knowing this truth. He is afraid of people getting to know and to understand that God's system is based on freedom. He doesn't want people to understand that they receive freely from God and so they can also give freely to replicate our Father.
He doesn't want people to understand that God loves them freely. He doesn't want people knowing that God has given us all things freely. He wants people to always think that they have to work to receive from God. He wants people to think that their relationship with God is based on their performance and that their receiving from God, is something that they have to work their bones out. And so this is the kind of thing that Satan promotes. He promotes "works" mentality. Satan wants people thinking that to receive from God you have to work for it and then maybe when God looks and he's pleased with your works then probably God is going to bless you and all of that. That's the kind of mindset that Satan wants people to have. But that mindset is completely at odds with new covenant truth. It's a lie. All of that work stuff is a lie. God's system is not based on works.
In God's system, receiving from Him is totally free. And I'm going to show you one or two Bible passages to emphasize this truth. Praise God! So the first Bible passage we're going to read is in Genesis chapter number 2 verse 16 and it says, "And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden, thou mayest freely eat"... So you can see that God's system with man began with freely. So God's system is based on freedom of expression, not based on pressure, forcing, caution. "You are free to eat", God is telling Adam, my system is based totally on freedom.
let's look at another passage of the Bible. Romans chapter number 8 verse 32.
"He that spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?" Notice the use of that word again. Freely. He that spared not his own son. Praise God! God spared not his own son, but delivered him up for us on the cross. So if he spared not his own son as Paul is saying to us, how shall he not also freely give us all things and you know Jesus is the best thing God ever gave to humanity. so if God gave his choicest gifts, his best gifts, his most prized possession, if God gave Christ or delivered Jesus to us on the cross freely if he gave us his best freely what other thing can't he give us freely? so that's why Paul made that statement.
All of His gifts are unconditional. Praise the Lord Jesus! The Bible tells us in Proverbs 10, it says, the blessings of the Lord make us rich. He added no sorrow to it. He added no condition. No condition. No pain. No sorrow. No stress. Unconditionally. Very important. So many people think they have to attach conditions. Religion teaches man, that conditions have to be attached. Religion teaches man that you have to meet up to certain standards of God or certain conditions of God, before you can receive. But that's not what the New Testament teaches. Receiving from God is totally free. You receive by grace, through faith. So if you are not receiving, it's not that God is withholding anything from you. Just that you don't really understand these things.
You're thinking you have to score up some points with God. You're thinking you've got a struggle. You're thinking, oh, you have to meet up and all of that. That's just the reason why, you find it difficult to receive freely from God. God's system is totally unconditional, totally free. If He spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not also with whom freely give us all things? So it means because of Jesus, because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf, all things are now freely given unto us. And this is the simple truth that we have to understand.
God has freely given you all things. And the way you draw from this is by faith.
Paul tells us we are justified, put right with God, declared right with God, by faith, by faith, not by works. He said we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. How? By faith, not by works, not by struggling, by faith.
Praise God! When we get to know these things, when we get to understand these things, then we enjoy the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. Romans chapter number 5 verse 2 and he says, ...By whom also we have access by faith into his grace where we stand and rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.... So all things have been provided for us by God's grace. God's grace has made all things available to us. But then Paul says that it is by faith that we assess these things. So there are no conditions here. You don't have to meet up with a particular fasting routine. You don't have to wear a special cloak or garment. You don't have to do any of such things. God's system is totally based on His grace. And grace here is actually speaking of all that God has done for us by Himself without our help through the substitutionary sacrifice of Jesus Christ. And you know the interesting thing about all of this, we didn't even know when God did this. We didn't know. Which speaks a lot. It simply tells us God did not need our help in order to save us. He didn't need our help, our participation, otherwise we would have messed up everything.
So he provided everything for us even when we were not born as yet. Everything was provided for us. And now we assess these things through faith. Praise God! Faith. Simple faith. Thank you, Holy Spirit! And this is also the point that Jesus is emphasizing in Matthew chapter number 10, verse 8.
Jesus said, here we see, raise the dead, cast out demons and all of that. He said, freely you have received, freely give. So Jesus is actually emphasizing God's system. He's telling us that God's system is totally based on freedom. Freely you have received, not by works. You don't receive from God by works. God's system is not based on performance. Hallelujah!
This is the reason Satan opposes grace-based teaching because he doesn't want people to know that the way to receive from God is freely, open access, unconditional goodness of God, the unconditional love of God, the unconditional benevolence of God. But Satan skews this truth, in the minds of many. He confuses them, deceives them through the religious teachings that they are receiving, that they are hearing, that they are listening to. He keeps them dumbed down so they don't get to know this truth that God's system is totally based on zero works. ZERO!
And what is this grace of God? Grace speaks of all that God has accomplished for us and made available for us through the efficacious sacrifice of Jesus Christ on our behalf. So God has made all these things available for us. Praise God! God's supply is consistent. God is always supplying. There is no lack of supply. Supply is constant. He never fails.
Let's see the difference here between God's system and the world's system. I want us to understand these two different systems that are in operation in this world. Because people don't understand. And because they don't understand these things, they think that they are the same. So they collapse everything together. But that shouldn't be.
The point, I'm trying to emphasize in this teaching, is that God's system is different. Different than man's system or different from man's system whichever way you want to put it. it's different from the system of this falling world that we are presently living in which is driven by human reasoning, by human thinking that is at odds with the realities of God unveiled to us in Christ. So God's system and the system of this world are diametrically opposed yet both co-exist in this world as parallel systems but they are independent of each other. So you can be engaged in spiritual activities based on faith and still be engaged in your secular work of business at the same time. You see, both systems are totally diametrically opposed. They're not the same. Two different systems running on earth at the same time. Yet, many do not understand.
If you knew how to just speak the word of God and take your stand on the word of God and pray in faith and receive the result you want, I don't think we'd be doing all the 21 days fasting, 40 days fasting every year. Once it's January 1 of every year, religious church groups begin their lengthy kind of fasting. They fast 200 days, 85 days, and it's like it's a competition. All of these things are purely works-based teachings. God put faith in you. And God knows what faith can do in you. God knows that Through faith, you can receive whatever it is you desire. Through faith. Jesus said, nothing is impossible to him who believes. Nothing is impossible to the man who operates by faith. Paul, Romans 5, 2 says, we have access to the grace of God by faith, not by fasting. Not by words. Not by self-flagellation. Not by self-torture.
Not denying yourself this or denying yourself that, thinking you're going to score up some points with God or thinking by not doing this or not doing that, you are going to placate God. All of those things are based on watch mentality. Praise God! So you see, two systems are operating at the same time on earth. The system of God, which is purely free. Freely you have received, freely give and which is what Satan doesn't want you to see. He doesn't want you to understand how this system operates. The system of freedom. Unconditional love. Unconditional goodness. Unconditional benevolence. Receiving from God unconditionally. Freely. Praise God! Do you understand what I'm saying? So Satan doesn't want people to understand this. But that system. The system of God is fully operational on earth. Do you understand this? Just as the system of the world which is based on works or human performance or religion is also fully operational on earth. So two systems that are diametrically opposed and they are independent of one another. They are both running on earth. Do you understand this?
So you can be engaged spiritually, operating in faith, and still be operating in the system of this world. Do you understand that? So you can see people do not understand these things. That the way to receive from God is purely free. Based on freedom. It's never based on works. It's never based on performance. God isn't going to be looking at whether you've met up with this or that. That's not God's system.
In God's system we give and receive freely. But in the world's system, everything is based on performance. Everything is based on works in the world's system. Everything is based on your efforts. Human efforts, religious effort. Things that you have to meet up with. Standards that you have to meet up with.
So when we give freely, we are simply demonstrating God's system and showing the world that God's system is actively operational .Praise God!
